Want to know one of the best moments as a D.C. wedding photographer? It’s watching a couple open up and be fully, comfortably themselves in front of my camera. That’s why I love engagement sessions! Couples feel more comfortable on their wedding day if they do an engagement session. This also helps me capture the real connection they share. Kipp and Sarah’s Kennedy Center Engagement Session was a perfect example of that!

We met literally at the crack of dawn at the Kennedy Center for their photos. Despite the very early morning, these two absolutely beamed brighter than the sun. I could feel them getting more confident as we danced through the pampas gardens at The Reach. I even snagged a few moments where they were being silly with one another, adding heaps of personality to their photos that they’ll enjoy forever.

After spending half their session at Kennedy Center, we drove up through Georgetown. That’s when we captured a very typical Sunday morning for them – taking a stroll hand-in-hand with cups of coffee in the other. I love when couples openly share parts of their lifestyle with me, and let me infuse it into their photos. Whether it’s turning your engagement session into a coffee date or dancing on street corners under fall leaves, I hope all my couples feel their photos are as personal to them as the moments they shared.

I absolutely loved getting to know Kipp and Sarah at their Kennedy Center and Georgetown engagement session. And Kevin and I will be counting down until their special day in May 2024 at the Naval District Washington Chapel and Josephine Restaurant in Old Town Alexandria!
