Crisp autumn weather is just starting to settle into Northern Virginia, which created the perfect atmosphere for Nick and Caroline to tie the knot. The culmination of a decade spent together, these two hosted a beautifully sentimental fall Rust Manor House wedding in Leesburg, VA.
Their wedding took place on a Monday! It’s really not often I photograph weekday weddings, because I still work a full-time job Monday-Friday. But I knew I had to say yes to photographing their wedding when I heard the reason why. Caroline’s grandparents AND parents got married on October the 16th. So she wanted to continue the tradition, no matter what day of the week it fell on. Since Caroline’s mother has passed, I know this decision had her smiling down on her daughter and new son-in-law. It was well worth taking the day off of work.
The leaves have just begun to show their vibrant colors, which made for a gorgeous backdrop for their portraits. And lucky for us, the slight drizzle that started their day faded away to let the sun through by the time of their ceremony! With that stress melting away, the emotions quickly began to show.
Caroline was a trooper of a bride. The few moments of tears were shared first with her Grammy, who helped her into her wedding dress — then with her dad at their First Look, and again with Nick at theirs. I counted… because I welled up right alongside her as I witnessed each precious moment through my lens.
She looked so beautiful in her whimsical A-line wedding gown. And Nick was so handsome in his tailored grey suit and burgundy bowtie! But I dare say their adorable dog Sadie tried showing everyone up when she waltzed in wearing a fall-palette floral wreath around her neck.
Sadie was SO well behaved! I couldn’t get enough of including her in portraits. I was so impressed by Nick and Caroline’s hired dog handler, Furever & Fur Always. She kept the squeaky toy and treats handy to make sure Sadie flashed us her best smile everytime.
In fact, all of the vendors on this event made the day run smoothly and beautifully. A huge shoutout to these people:
