My first thought when I got in my car after this session ended was, “I was DEFINITELY the lucky one!” Kasey and Colin won a giveaway contest that I partnered with Visit Alexandria back in April. Couples, and especially brides, commented on our instagram posts to enter, hoping to win a free Alexandria Waterfront engagement session with me featuring the new art installation at the park, the “I Love You” sign.
I never win giveaways like that, so I already knew that Kasey and Colin must be feeling pretty lucky. But after meeting them, I’m pretty sure I was just as, if not more, lucky than they were! I could not have even picked a more perfect ENP Couple to shoot this session with. The retro feel of the “I Love You” art installation paired so beautifully with Kasey’s classic long bob and midi dress style and Colin’s tan suit. These two have so much style!
What’s more, these two made a long weekend getaway out of this session. They actually live in Charlottesville, Virginia, so they came up to Alexandria the day before and spent the remainder of the weekend with Kasey’s family. I feel so honored they would make the time to work with me!
We began the session at the sign at sunrise to catch that magical Potomac River glow. Despite getting up super early, they both looked bright eyed and totally in love. We moved our way through the session and I couldn’t get over how the sunlight seemed like a mere accessory to their bright smiles. Their connection was so darling, and my camera picked up on it so fast.
After starting their Alexandria Waterfront engagement session down by the sign and the boats at the docs, we moved into the casual outfit half of the session. I got to photograph Kasey’s gorgeous emerald-cut diamond with a hidden halo band. I was so distracted by the dazzling stone that they actually beat me getting dressed before I finished ring shots. But they may be some of my favorite ring shots to date!
We then moved up to Captain’s Row, a great spot if you love colorful row homes and charming cobblestone streets. From there, we found Wales Alley all to ourselves, and I couldn’t resist the morning sun beams there. After we grabbed all the essential shots and spots any good Old Town Alexandria engagement session should have, we moved back down to Waterfront Park. There, Kasey and Colin pulled out their baseball mitts and played catch for a few shots! This was a sweet layering in of Colin’s love for baseball and days playing in college. I love when couples incorporate shared hobbies and interests into their sessions!
I hope you enjoy scrolling through this Alexandria waterfront engagement session as much as I enjoyed creating it for this sweet couple! Leave them some love in the comments if you make it to the end.
