Interrupting the usual stream of wedding-focused blogs to bring you my first ever cake smash session!!

Dating Kevin certainly has a lot of blessings that come with it, one of which being the friends that I’ve gained through him. His friends are some of the most genuine, loyal people I know. And they’ve welcomed me with open arms the last nine months of our relationship. One of the couples in his tight-knit group are Katie and Zach, and their baby boy Roman. Zach is a friend of Kevin’s from his college days. So his little family is important to Kev, and consequently important to me too.

Roman just turned one in early October. When I met him, he was just a tiny little squish with the cutest, big, brown eyes!! Now he’s up walking and smiling through his gappy teeth and socializing with everyone he meets. When Katie asked me to photograph his cake smash session for his first birthday I was so excited! There’s a lot of talented photographers out there, especially others who have done tons of cake smashes – but being chosen to capture this milestone for them was such an honor.

It’s my first ever cake smash! And by how fun it was and adorable the pictures came out, I really hope it’s not the last!! I laughed so hard watching him run around full of blue icing. Oh! And did I mention… Katie made the cake herself?! In fact, she is running her own side business making beautiful, tasty cakes for clients of her own. Just a couple weeks ago she made a gorgeous wedding cake! Speaking of which… Kevin, I think we’re going to have to commission her someday soon… 😉

Katie and Zach are amazing parents and are expecting baby #2 next spring – and it’s a girl!! Guys, Kev and I are so excited for you. Watching your family grow is a huge joy, and being a part of your lives is such a privilege. We love y’all!! Enjoy Roman’s cute cake smash gallery.
