Until Wayde and Kayla’s wedding day, I never thought I’d be cheered on by a cow. Minor side story before diving in. When I arrived to Wayde’s AirBnB down the road from their Barn at Timber Creek wedding venue, the cows came right up to the fence mooing so loud at me! I snapped a photo of them, then moved inside. When I came back out with Wayde’s groom details to photograph them on the porch, the mooing continued. Regardless, I’ll just believe I had a few unconventional cheerleaders that day.

Aside from this cute interruption, this sweet wedding was the perfect way to end the 2022 wedding season. It was my last wedding of the year, and I’m so glad I got to second shoot it for Stacie of Marshall Arts Photography.

Kayla and Wayde turned their Barn at Timber Creek wedding venue into a whimsical cabin feel despite its very Virginia country setting. Because of their careful planning, everwhere we looked felt like a woodland, winter wonderland! Their all black bridal party look looked so classic and clean against the red pine needles that graced the ground at their ceremony. And their winter florals were stunning and so unique!

But most striking of all was the couple’s laid back, anything goes attitude and excitement for getting married. Wayde was such an easy going groom. And his bride Kayla looked like a supermodel in her glittering, sleek wedding gown. Their friends and family were so warm and welcoming, I often felt like a guest not a vendor.

The day went so smoothly, we had over an hour before the ceremony to capture details and more portraits! And by the end of the night, Kayla had one last request: magical night photos with twinkling lights surrounding them. So we grabbed the little battery-operated wire lights that were decorating the buffet table! But each strand was only about 2 feet in length. So Stacie and I each took a strand and held them in front of our lens to create glowy orbs that looked like they were floating among the stars. Scroll to the end to see the magical results!!
