If you’re sick of hot weather and clutching a way-too-early pumpkin spice latte, you’re in luck. I’m dipping into a wedding from my early spring vault to help cool things down. Nicole and Jacob said “I do” at their Inn at Evergreen wedding in Haymarket, VA this past March! I had a GREAT time as their second shooter, working for Gracie Withers Photography (a great friend and regular coworker in my little photography world).
This wedding was so beautiful, despite experiencing six — yes, I said SIX — forms of weather in one day! We had wind, snow, rain, sunshine, overcast, and even HAIL! Regardless, Nicole and Jacob were complete troopers and we somehow managed to get sun at just the right moments for their wedding portraits.
The Inn at Evergreen is also a gorgeous spot to have your special day. Its cherry blossom trees were showing off. Additionally, there were so many pretty details inside and outside the pretty stone buildings. Plus, if you have a thing for a touch of glam, check out the chandeliers in the ballroom!
Despite being a beautiful venue, my favorite moment of the day had to be when I went upstairs looking for Nicole and found her with her dad looking out the window. I had to capture this moment. They were holding one another as they watched their guests file into the chairs at the ceremony space outside and below where they stood. I can only imagine the sweet feeling of my dad holding me while we watch my wedding day unfold. Something that I suppose could happen in just a few short days after writing this blog post, when I get to say “I do” to MY best friend (September 10, let’s gooo!!)
I will always look back on that moment with Nicole and her dad and I love the photo it produced. It just goes to show a great wedding photo doesn’t have to be in glowy sunlight or perfectly composed. Sometimes the best images are the improvised, unplanned moments captured. I love creating those keepsakes for couples so much.
Anyway, enough of the mush! I hope you all love the images from this wedding as much as I do!
