Last weekend I got to enjoy time with family celebrating our baby girl coming in July. It was a really wonderful break! And my mom planned the most beautiful baby shower for me and my baby.
Because her nursery is themed with teddy bears and honeybees, my mom themed the shower the same way. My friend Bailee kindly offered to have it hosted at her home so we would have plenty of room for my guests. My husband was in charge of keeping me distracted that morning while my mom and mother-in-law were busy setting up.
The morning started like it was my birthday. My husband woke me gently, wishing me a “Happy Baby Shower Day”! We left to grab bagels and coffee for breakfast. Then we came home to snuggle Dunkin for a bit before I started getting ready for the shower.
We were told to arrive a few minutes late so my friends would already be there waiting for me. When I walked in, I saw a beautiful garland of onesies hanging from the window. To the right, there was a table set up with flowers, a balloon, honeypot favors, onesie cookies, and the cutest darn cake with pink frosting, sugar candy bees and clay model bears on top.
It was so sweet seeing everyone who came — friends from my current church, my old church, Kevin’s work, and family. Mom had prepared all the food ahead of time and traveled with it in their RV. We ate Kings Hawaiian roll ham and cheese sliders, feta pasta salad, fruit salad, deviled eggs, Swedish meatballs, and sherbet punch with little rubber duckies floating on top.
Then we played games like baby “Price is Right”, baby trivia, and a game my sister sent to my mom — Mom advice from Taylor Swift (matching lyrics to new mom scenarios). I opened gifts for our baby girl. And most of my friends brought baby books as cards! We shared lots of laughs and memories, and I went home feeling so full and loved.
The entire weekend with both sets of our parents was just as sweet. We spent all of Sunday packing up the second bedroom (currently used as my office) into a storage unit to make room for baby’s things. And after some struggle, I learned how the stroller and infant car seat works. Poor Dunkin was feeling very crowded by all the new gear and boxes. Fortunately, he has since settled down and adjusted to all his baby sister’s stuff.
We topped the weekend off with a lovely early Mother’s Day dinner at the Melting Pot. It was my parents first time dining there.
These photos are my memories, kindly captured by my sister-in-law.
