Everyone knows Virginia is THE place for a fall engagement session. But capturing beautiful fall foliage near Washington, D.C. can seem daunting, with city traffic and crowds present. Not so for Caroline + Nick's engagement session at Jones Point Park in Alexandria! They woke up at the crack of dawn to beat Old Town Alexandria crowds, and Jones Point Park was completely empty and ready to share its glow with the happily engaged couple and their adorable Aussie pup, Sadie. Nick & Caroline’s Peak Fall Jones Point Park Engagement Session | Alexandria Wedding Photographer

Engagements

You all may know by now that I am not an early morning gal. But Old Town Alexandria is situated along the Potomac, facing the sunrise. Which means we needed to beat the sun for this Old Town/Jones Point Park engagement session. Plus, it was Halloween weekend in Old Town. Which means elaborate, spooky doorstep installations were EVERYWHERE. So we hightailed down to the waterfront instead of our original plan to work the residential streets. Besides, the “I Love You” art installation was still up, and not for much longer! So Caroline and Nick wanted to take advantage of this unique element in their photos.

After a few dawn sky photos with the sign, we moved to Jones Point Park, where the fall foliage was showing off! And to put icing on the cake, Caroline & Nick brought their sweet pup Sadie. She was so well behaved and absolutely loved the attention (and treats) she was getting. My husband Kevin usually accompanies me on engagement sessions to help carry my clients’ bags and extra props. This time he was the lucky dog handler when Sadie needed breaks.

In fact, Sadie got so used to Kevin being in charge of getting her attention with dog biscuits that she hardly let him out of her sight. Which made for some hilarious and adorable photos! But I don’t have to tell you…. Caroline & Nick’s photos speak for themselves. These two cuties became fast naturals in front of the camera, despite both expressing feeling nervous pre-session. Their smiles seemed to draw in the sunlight.

Not only that, but spending this morning with them made me so excited for their special day. I got to know them better and they may have tried talking Kevin and I over the fence into getting a dog (too soon, but the puppy fever is real)! Although, when we do decide to adopt, I’m definitely calling Caroline because she works in Animal Control for the Arlington animal shelter! Meanwhile Nick is saving us less-than-saavy tax payers as an accountant. In short, both of these sweet souls do the Lord’s work, saving animals and business owners on the daily.

So excited to share all my favorites from this Jones Point Park engagement session!
