ENGAGED // Nathanael + Lucy

filed in

Oh my word… you guys! This portfolio post is very special for me. Why? Because I get to show off my very FIRST engagement session!!

After all the amazing family, portrait, and custom sessions my wonderful clients have booked me for, I must say that I am so excited to finally break into the wedding scene and show off my skills for engaged couples! Shooting for engaged couples is something I couldn’t have done, or at least could never have done well, without all of my sweet clients that booked me for their family and portrait sessions! Seriously, from the bottom of my heart to all you out there that have booked me in the past, this one is for you.

Lucy contacted me on Instagram, saying she was a friend of Lucy and Nick van Schaijik (remember that adorable pregnancy announcement I shot for my coworker??). She loved their photos so much that she asked if I would shoot her engagement session. And, I was promoting a new location at River Farm that I wanted to try, so it was the perfect opportunity for us both!

I arrived at River Farm in Alexandria about 20 minutes before Lucy and Nathanael, to sign the final permit paperwork at the visitor desk and get a feel for the grounds. When I got there, my eyes glazed over with excitement! The light was beautiful and warm, there were plenty of flowers blooming, the colors were light and pastel… I felt like I walked into a storybook illustration.

Lucy and Nathanael arrived, and they both looked stunning. Lucy mentioned that she read my blog on outfit choices before dressing for her session, and it surely showed! They both chose perfect outfits for their engagement shoot, and I have to say, it could not have been better for the venue as well. They just popped off of every background so beautifully!

Posing these two was so easy… they were very sweet on each other and heeded my every instruction like they knew what they were doing. I even caught them sharing sweet moments as I changed lenses and had to tell them to stay as they are! They were creating poses without even realizing it, and I didn’t want to miss a second of their cuteness.

After I pulled their photos into the editing process, I made my mind up… I think THIS was my best couple’s shoot YET! Just take a look for yourself at the gallery samples I’ve curated for you below.

Nathanael and Lucy, I wish you both just the happiest wedding day in Seattle! You were both a dream to work with, and I cannot wait to see where life brings you in this next chapter. Thank you so much for booking Emily Nicole Photography, and I hope we get to work again soon!
